No Gate Keeping: Sitting Down with Evelyn Mills Owner of Everflow Social Marketing Agency
I’ve been friends with Evelyn Mills for a few years now, and watching her build Everflow Social has been such an inspiration for my own business journey. Evelyn has this rare mix of creativity and structure that makes entrepreneurship feel both intentional and human. From the moment we sat down to talk, it was clear how much thought and self-awareness she brings into every part of what she does. Her leadership, her client relationships, and the way she’s grown her agency from a solo venture into a thriving team, I couldn’t wait to dive into her story and share it.
Evelyn didn’t start out in social media. She began in corporate digital marketing, writing copy for web designers. “It was really boring,” she admitted with a laugh. She loved the freedom of working remotely, but the moment she was called into an office, she knew it wasn’t for her. That realization pushed her to try something new: virtual assisting. It turned out to be the perfect space for her wide range of creative skills. “I could do graphic design, copywriting, web design, all of it in one job,” she said. As her client list grew, so did her confidence. Eventually, she left her corporate job and turned her side hustle into her full-time business! What started as a solo operation in 2022 evolved into something bigger. By 2025, she officially launched her agency, Everflow Social, and began leading a team that manages social media accounts and marketing campaigns for clients across multiple industries.
When I asked Evelyn what a typical day looks like, she laughed. “Every day is different,” she said. Her mornings start with coffee, meditation, and a little movement before diving into what she calls her “admin check-in” handling emails, notifications, and a big-picture look at her day. It’s her favorite part of the day because it sets the tone and reminds her of everything she’s built.
But it’s not all peaceful mornings and creative flow. “The hardest part is that it’s all on me at the end of the day,” she admitted. “There’s no taking time off without having a ton of work waiting when I get back.” Working remotely can also feel isolating at times. The to-do lists are long, and the line between client work and personal business never fully disappears.
Still, those challenges haven’t dimmed her love for what she does. “What always makes me the happiest is when clients say, ‘Wow, I love this work. I could have never made this.’ That kind of reassurance makes it all worth it.” Her favorite “I can’t believe I’m doing this” moment? Traveling for content shoots. What started as a dream has turned into a consistent part of her business. Working with the same clients year after year, traveling to their locations, and becoming a trusted part of their team. “We’ve become friends. I get to visit some of their families, and it’s such a full-circle moment,” she said.
When asked what advice she’d give her past self, Evelyn didn’t hesitate. “Don’t wait until you’re overwhelmed to start automating things,” she said. “Do it before you need to.” She also shared a mindset shift that’s been huge for her growth: “I’ve always been independent and thought, ‘I can figure this out myself.’ But sometimes, you don’t have to. Hire someone who’s good at it, or if you can’t yet, talk to someone who’s been there. That personal connection will teach you more than a YouTube video ever could.”
Talking with Evelyn reminded me that scaling doesn’t always mean losing the heart of what you built. She’s proof that you can run a creative business with structure and soul at the same time.
